Sustainability at Himgiri

We source 80% of our energy from rooftop solar panels and partner with a local renewable energy cooperative for the remainder. All guest rooms use LED lighting and smart thermostats that reduce consumption during unoccupied hours.

Our property collects and filters rainwater for garden irrigation and non-potable uses. Low-flow showerheads and tap aerators in all rooms reduce water usage by up to 35% compared to conventional fittings. Grey water from the kitchen is treated and reused.

We have eliminated single-use plastics from all guest-facing touchpoints. Toiletries are offered in refillable glass dispensers. Food waste from our kitchen is composted on-site and returns as fertiliser for our organic garden. We aim for zero landfill by 2027.

Our 4-acre estate is a certified bird sanctuary with over 60 recorded species. We maintain a native plant nursery and have planted 800+ trees since 2019. Chemical pesticides are banned on the property — pest control is managed through companion planting and natural predators.

We source 90% of our produce from farms within 50 km. Over 80% of our team members are from Dehradun and surrounding villages. We partner with local artisans for our décor and gift shop, and offer a supplier development programme for small-scale farmers.

We believe sustainable travel starts with awareness. Our guests are invited to join guided organic garden tours, forest conservation walks, and evening talks by local naturalists. Our in-room compendium includes a sustainability guide with tips for mindful travel beyond our property.
